Expend
My friend Gary Fishman shared a quote from Helen Keller recently and it resonated strongly with my spirit. Helen Keller said, “It is wonderful how much time good people spend fighting the devil. If they would only expend the same amount of energy loving their fellow men, the devil would die in his own tracks.” Ultimately, she is saying we are putting our energy in the wrong places. When you expend something you use up a resource. How interesting is that? The devil is smart enough to know that if he distracts us with himself (the works of darkness) then it detours us away from our real power, which is love. Love in any situation is a superpower. So powerful indeed that Colossians 3:14 says, “And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.” It says ABOVE ALL put on love. It doesn’t say show love. Sometimes an action step is required because love in situations is difficult, hence it must be intentionally put on. We must expend our time and energy in love, and in doing so, we will naturally drift away from the schemes of the devil.
You are loved, Kris
