Gift and Calling

A word from the heart of God: Gift & Calling.

I heard Dan Romer give a great example of the two, using David from the Bible. He said, “David was a musician; that was his gift. David’s calling with Kingship. He was called to be a King.” Could you imagine if David didn’t understand the difference between a gift and a calling? If being a musician was his final destination and he never pursued his calling. Your gift is your tool. You can even see it as a key, but you shouldn’t see it as a door. Your gifts are the key to opportunities, while your calling is the thing that those opportunities are pointing toward. David’s gift got him into Saul’s palace, but his calling took him to the throne. It’s time to distinguish between your gift and your calling! One will get you into a palace while the other will take you to the throne.
