Commanded

A word from the heart of God: Commanded.

In the book Covenant, my friend Shayne Payne talks about Jesus’s authority being demonstrated, not merely claimed. This is very powerful because so many people claim to be men and women of God, yet there are no visible demonstrations of Jesus’s authority proven through His power. Jesus commanded sickness, and it obeyed. Jesus commanded the wind and sea, and they ceased. Jesus commanded demons, and they fled. Jesus commanded death, and it released its hold. In this book, Shanye reminded me that power follows authority. Matthew 7:29 says, “He taught them as one having authority and not as the scribes.” Scribes (professional scholars) quoted authority. Jesus embodied it.
