Lamenting

A word from the heart of God: Lamenting.

Lament means to feel or express deep sorrow, grief, or regret. Lamenting is grief. It’s a way in which you honestly acknowledge the pain of your past. The thing about lamenting is that it’s attached to hope. Our future is held by God; therefore, the pain of our past is held in the same hands as the person who holds the hope of our future. John 16:20 says, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice. You will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will turn into joy.” The Bible records that God also laments over the sin and disobedience of His people. He laments the destruction of His perfect world and the ongoing rebellion that keeps it in bondage to the enemy. God’s lamentations show us that He feels deep sorrow when evil reigns unchecked. Lamenting is shared by heaven — it truly confirms WE are never alone. God is always with us. God feels and understands what we feel.

You are loved, Kris
