Selfish

A word from the heart of God: Selfish.

I think it’s important to truly understand the definition of what it is to be selfish. Why? Because many people are moving selfishly in this world without even acknowledging it. The Bible addresses selfishness as a self-seeking posture that puts personal pride, comfort, and gain above love for God and others. Philippians 2:3-4 says, “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.” In essence, culture today contrasts what the Bible says. Biblical teachings on selfishness target self-centeredness, greed, and self-absorption. Today, I’m reminded, we are called to deny ourselves, take up the cross and serve Christ as well as serving others.

You are loved, Kris
