A word from the heart of God: What is normal?
I’ve been thinking a lot about this question lately. The world says something much different than what God says when it comes to normal. We have to be very careful because culture will try to dictate normal, but that’s not truth. The only thing that dictates normal is the gospel. Maturity requires you to stand on the word of God, which has stood the test of time. I can’t say the same about culture; that seems to fluctuate. The world defines normal as conforming to a standard, rule, or expected average. Nothing can be farther from the truth when it comes to God. God never conforms and He’s never average. God is sovereign, infinite, and awe-inspiring. God defines human identity through creation, relationship, and purpose. Anyone can buy a new car, but no one can buy a new life. A new life is a gift to believers in Christianity. Normal, according to Christ, is living a life that resembles Him, honors Him, praises Him, serves Him and eventually spends eternity with Him.
