Covenant Claim

A word from the heart of God: Covenant Claim.

In order to understand this word, we need to understand the meaning of covenant and the meaning of claim. A covenant is a formal, binding partnership or solemn agreement between God and humans. A claim is a statement asserting something as true — often debatable or unverified. Luke 6:46 says, “Why do you call me 'Lord, Lord', and do not do the things which I say.” I had to really think about this scripture. Calling Jesus “Lord” is a covenant claim. Refusing His commands nullifies that claim. In the book Covenant, my friend Shayne Payne says, “Titles without obedience carry no authority.” I think all of us need to understand the depth of that statement. It’s a time to honor true covenant with God.
