Long Suffering
A word from the heart of God: Long Suffering.
I’ve been woken up all week around 3 am. In the darkness, I sensed an urge to pray. My prayers leaned me into a place to pray about suffering. I used to associate long suffering with seasons, but I now understand its divine purpose. Long-suffering means to patiently and calmly endure lasting hardship, trouble, or bad behavior from others without complaining or seeking quick revenge. It describes a person who has a “long fuse” and shows deep self-restraint under pressure. God shows perfect long-suffering by waiting patiently for people to turn to Him, and He expects us to show that same patient love to others. “Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.” Colossians 3:12. The key words are “put on” and “chosen ones.” Be the chosen one God created you to be and put on holiness while walking through suffering with hearts filled with kindness, humility, weakness, and patience. Suffering is so much more about intimacy with God than pain.
You are loved, Kris
