Self restraint

The demonstration of emotional restraint is one of the highest forms of restraint. If you ever wanted to gauge your maturity, this is the area where you would start. When you’re upset or angry it’s extremely easy to release emotions. When emotions are released in anger or selfishness, the consequences can be dire to those around you. If you’re only thinking about yourself and have no self restraint, the truth is the aftermath hurts others much more than it hurts you. When you have no self-restraint, then you have no sensitivity to the consequences of your behavior or actions. People who move immaturely see strength differently than how God sees strength. Strength in the eyes of the Lord is humility, self control, selflessness, love, Grace and Mercy. Exhibiting characteristics like those shows immense maturity because it requires immense self restraint. When you can move past the instant gratification of the moment, you have now graduated to a higher level of spiritual maturity. When you react out of emotion instead of using wisdom, the consequences usually have repercussions that are not easy to recover from. In essence, be mature. Stop trying to find satisfaction in the here and now. Instead, seek the Lord. Understand that every thing you do transcends eternally, hence self restraint is divinely beautiful and all powerful!

You are loved, Kris
