Don’t Hide Your Scars
I truly feel that this is a word for me today. When I was younger, my cat scratched me and I got a big scar on my leg. I remember hiding it as a teenager because I hated the way it looked. I believe pain looks a lot like a scar on your body, one that most people hide and don’t like to look at.
The Conviction of a Calling
My friend, Jonathan Patterson, wrote: If the need to fit in caused you to pivot, compromise, make decisions, or acquiesce to the expectations of others, you may need to repent. Repentance is not condemnation; it is the courage to turn away from the fear of rejection and return to the conviction of your calling.
Be Awakened
The Lord warns us to live each day as if it’s our last. Ephesians 5:15-16 declares, “See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” The key here is the words “redeeming the time,” which in essence means living every day as if it’s your last.
Limitations
In order to understand this word, we must first understand the meaning of limitations. A limitation is a rule, condition, or boundary that restricts what can be done, or a specific weakness that prevents someone or something from functioning at a higher capacity.
When Truth is Revealed
Have you ever been deceived? If you have, you truly understand the power of truth. The Bible presents truth not just as a factual concept, but as the absolute, unchanging nature of God. It teaches that God’s Word is truth, that Jesus embodies truth, and that living in this truth brings spiritual freedom.
Rest and War
These two words don’t seem to belong in the same sentence. I believe we may be entering into a season of war. This should not alarm you because you are well trained for this. War is much different than battles. We as Christian’s experience battles almost daily; it's part of our walk.
The Leading of
What a great word. Romans 8:14 declares, “For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.” In essence, you are a true son or daughter of Christ when you are led by the Spirit within. Too often, people proclaim to be men and women of God, yet they ignore the leading of the Holy Spirit.
Capture
This is a strong word. Capture, in general, means to grab, trap, or take something that doesn't want to be grabbed, trapped, or taken. I believe God is asking us to do a self-assessment. Maybe a great question to ask is: Has the devil captured something within you that you unwillingly or willingly gave him?
Sit with Me
Have you ever just had someone sit with you in a time of need? Often they don’t even say anything. They are just there with you and you feel their warmth, their care, and their love and immediately you don’t feel alone in your struggle. I remember many moments like that when I couldn’t even see the hour I was in.
The Breaking Broke Through
Have you ever been broken? When you were younger, I’m sure you sprained your ankle once or twice. Then there are those of us who endured more than a sprain and broke a bone. Then there were those whose break was so severe that a bone shattered and required surgery.
Your Character Carries the Weight of Your Calling
Yesterday while I was at church, my Pastor shared a message about obedience and consistency. One of the things he said that truly stood out was that your character carries the weight of your calling. Think about that for a minute.
Marked by God
I heard a pastor say, “Once you’ve been exposed, you cannot be unexposed.” This can refer to holiness as well as sin. When I experienced the loss of my two boys within a 30-day period, I felt like I died as well. Their deaths led me to a full surrender to God, by choice, because I honestly couldn’t breathe a natural breath. I threw myself at God’s feet and asked Him to breathe for me.
A Deep Breath
If you’ve ever witnessed someone having an anxiety attack, the first thing you do is tell them to take a deep breath. Breathing deeply allows you to center yourself within yourself. I think it’s like you reminding yourself that everything’s okay, you’re actually standing still, and you’re actually breathing.
Look to the Heavens
When I drive into my driveway, at first, all I see is the road ahead of me. When I enter my home and go upstairs and onto my deck, my entire view changes. I see an entirely new view of a valley landscape. I’m in the same home; the difference is my viewpoint. I encourage you to see life the same way.
Sin
What does the Bible say about sin? The Bible defines sin as any action, thought, or attitude that disobeys or falls short of God's perfect standards. Ultimately, sin separates people from God. Because God is holy and righteous, sin is completely opposed to His nature and separates humanity from His presence.
As Things Shift
When something shifts, it means it moves, changes, or is transfered from one position, direction, or state to another. Anyone who operates a business understands what happens as things shift. There’s a transitional space of adjustment and that space can be temporarily difficult.
